Seven Keys to Avoiding Scammers
All over the net I see it and you do too! People all over the internet are trying to steal your money. They hide who they are and what they’re doing. But why? Why all the mystery? If you have a good product, prove it to me. If you really practice what you preach, I want to see! Well as many of you know, I purchase and then review game guides in video form on YouTube and post them to my website. This is the only way I see that people will ever really know what they’re getting.
So obviously after all of my experience with the web and MMORPG’s (Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing Games…like World of Warcraft, Ragnarok Online and Maplestory), I could spot a scam artist a mile away. Here are the seven steps I take to avoid scammers and separate truth from reality.
1) Know Your World – The first step that you could take in avoiding a scammer is to know your world. I can’t stress this enough. If you don’t know enough about the topic your buying about to justify the purchase the best bet is to go back and learn some more. Scammers look for under informed people. Don’t be one of them.
2) Over Exaggerated – Ok, if the offer seems really too good to be true, it probably is. Now I’m not saying they all are, but 8 times out of 10 it’s probably a scam or has some sort of loophole you don’t know about. Important: NEVER think that the product is a miracle drug that’ll make all your dreams come true. You will always have to work at what you want in the end. The product just makes it easier.
3) Credentials Please – Always look for the person’s credentials. If you can’t back up what they’re saying by the knowledge level you already have make sure that this person knows what they’re talking about. Look for diplomas, work experience, past articles, etc.
4) Visual Proof – There’s a reason I make YouTube videos of the products I promote. I want everybody to know exactly what they’re buying and why. The worst thing you could do is buy something based entirely on what they say about themselves. Look for yourself!
5) Clearly Stated Cost – Simple enough…always make sure that the entire cost is clearly stated. If there’s a trial period, find out what you pay after the trial. Find out how you have to cancel. And check that there are no reoccurring fees you don’t know about.
6) Contact Us – Check out the contact us page. Do they have a contact us page? Is there ANY way to get in touch with these people? Did they turn off their comments?? If there is no real way to get in touch with the company or person, don’t give them your money. Plain and simple.
7) Customer Response – Testimonials are real and testimonials are key. Don’t just look on their website though, check out what 3rd parties say about their products as well. Look at my YouTube videos and look up any related forums.
These are just a few ways that I could spot a scammer. The problem is that these days they blend in so well that it becomes hard to separate truth from reality. The scammers and the truthful, credible people out there both look exactly the same. (heck, check out my old site to see what I mean) The only problem is that they’re competing with each other for your eyes instead of trying to cater to you.
So with that said just remember to look out for yourself and follow those simple steps and your life on the internet and your wallet will feel much more peaceful in the long run. Peace.
